Liverpool simply cannot escape Real Madrid in a transfer window. Here they come again.
Liverpool bump into Real Madrid at just about every turn in a transfer window. The two clubs shop in remarkably similar markets.

Half of the squad in Madrid was first linked with Liverpool - or at least, it feels that way. The stars certainly were, with Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo Goes, Aurelian Tchouameni, Eder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga and likely others wanted at Anfield before ultimately choosing Real Madrid.
Last January, of course, there was communication between the two. Real Madrid wanted to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold, six months before his contract expired. They put up €20m, reportedly, but Liverpool said no.
Instead, the two did business at £10m ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. It was a remarkable deal for Liverpool given Alexander-Arnold by then had one month left on his deal and wouldn't play again.
But it seems that won't be the last time the two clubs talk this year. Another approach is on the way.
Raul Asencio started 18 La Liga fixtures last season but it appears Xabi Alonso isn’t a fan. OKDiario reports that Real Madrid are now looking to move on from the defender.
It’s not exactly a secret who they want as a new defender, either. Marca are just the latest to report on their interest in Ibrahima Konate.
Konate’s contract expires in under a year, meaning he can move for free in 2026. However, Real Madrid want to upgrade their defence and that might mean moving for the Frenchman this summer.
