The West Yorkshire side are third in League One, just two points behind second-place Lincoln City, with a game in hand on Michael Skubala's men, following their 2-1 win over Blackpool on Sunday.

Bradford's transfer business so far has seen them acquire Louie Sibley on loan from Championship side Oxford United, whereas Alex Pattison left Valley Parade to join League Two outfit Walsall on a permanent transfer.

Alexander's men enjoyed a successful summer transfer window, signing the likes of former Barnsley forward Stephen Humphrys and ex-Sunderland star Max Power, while January provides them with another opportunity to strengthen their ranks in order to potentially catch the likes of Lincoln and league leaders Cardiff City in the automatic promotion spots

Bradford can bolster their chances of winning promotion to the Championship by defeating fellow Yorkshire side Rotherham United on home soil on Saturday.

Meanwhile, discussing his club's potential transfer business, Alexander told the Yorkshire Post: "We’re free to act within our financial parameters.

"The loan market is a good one at this stage, but players might be coming out of contract in six months’ time and could be looking to get ahead of the game.

"We’ve got an open mind about what we have to do. We haven’t got an endless pot of money, but we believe we can still get the players in that we hope can enhance the squad.

"It’s not just isolated to loan players. There could be permanents and potential fees, but nothing big or major."

Bradford deserve an enormous amount of credit for the fact that they are third in League One, with a great chance of breaking into the top two, less than a year on from clinching promotion to League Two.

The Bantams won't want to stop their increasingly impressive exploits now, and have already capitalised on the fact that several promotion rivals have been inconsistent this term.

For instance, West Yorkshire neighbours Huddersfield Town sit fourth in League One even though they have already lost eight of their 25 third-tier fixtures.

Therefore, if Bradford continue to complete shrewd deals in the transfer market, following the aforementioned loan addition of Sibley, they have every chance of beating the likes of Lincoln to a vital top-two spot.

January marks a tough month for Alexander's men, though, as they face all three of their current top-four rivals, Cardiff, Huddersfield, and Lincoln.

If the Bantams slip up in those fixtures, they will be in danger of damaging their automatic promotion credentials, whereas a victory over the Welsh club on 17 January could even see the West Yorkshire side fancying their title chances.

As alluded to by Alexander, utilising the loan market could prove fruitful for Bradford this month, while recent addition Sibley will be keen to produce the influential performances he showed in League One with his former club Derby County.

Sibley helped the Bantams to their 2-1 win over Blackpool as a second-half substitute, and will look to have a greater impact in the coming weeks and months.
