Bradley Barcola has suffered a severe ligament sprain to his right ankle and will be out for several weeks, a blow to PSG’s in-form attack. The club said he will be unavailable for the coming weeks, putting his participation in the Champions League quarter-finals in doubt.
He was injured by a clumsy tackle from Brazilian Joao Pedro in the 52nd minute of the 3-0 win at Chelsea, which sealed an 8-2 aggregate passage. He left Stamford Bridge wearing a protective boot.
Tests on Wednesday after the squad returned confirmed the diagnosis, and depending on how it evolves, the lay-off could stretch to a month. France will be without the 23-year-old for next week’s tour of the United States, with friendlies against Brazil on 26 March and Colombia on 29 March.
PSG are likely to be without him for at least the next three Ligue 1 matches, against Nice, Toulouse and Lens, and the quarter-final ties scheduled for 7 or 8 April and 14 or 15 April.
Long criticised for his end product, the international, with 18 matches and 3 goals, had hit a rich vein of form. He struck twice against Chelsea, his first Champions League goals for 13 months, and might have added more on Tuesday. Beyond one of their leading scorers this season, 12 goals and 6 assists, Luis Enrique loses a rare source of depth and a physically reliable option who has been PSG’s most consistent forward in 2026.
