Grêmio returned to work on Wednesday at CT Luiz Carvalho after two days off, with centre-forward Braithwaite the notable inclusion. The Dane has been integrated into Luís Castro’s group after injury.

According to Globo.com, he suffered an Achilles tendon problem in September last year and, after the lay-off, will need a mini pre-season before he is available. Although back with the group, he is still training with limitations.

His comeback is targeted for late March or early April. If he reacts well to the reconditioning, it could be brought forward and happen within three weeks.

He is registered for the Gauchão. Internally, his involvement in the competition, even if Grêmio reach the final, is considered unlikely.

Club footage showed crossing drills with Braithwaite contesting normally in the box. Willian, who has been managing muscle pain, did not appear in the material released.

Luís Castro has three more days to prepare for the second leg of the Gauchão semi-final. On Sunday, Grêmio face Juventude at 18:00 at Alfredo Jaconi for a place in the final.
