The Dutch midfielder, 31, seized on a clearance 25 metres from Mamadou Diop’s goal and whipped a half-volley straight into the net, the keeper powerless.

It was his first Ligue 1 goal since February 2023, when he scored from a free-kick at the Parc des Princes for Toulouse in PSG-Toulouse, which ended 2-1.

He joined Angers permanently this summer from Ajax, having spent the second half of last season there on loan.
