São Paulo reached the Brasileiro Feminino semi-finals, ensuring São Paulo state has a last-four representative for the 14th straight year.
According to Globo.com, São Paulo eliminated Grêmio on Saturday to book their place.
After a goalless first leg, the return at Brinco de Ouro da Princesa in Campinas was also locked at 0-0 and heading for penalties. In the closing minutes, Giovanna Crivelari struck on 44 minutes, and Vi Amaral added another on 50 to seal progression.
The state could still have a second semi-finalist if Corinthians finish the job against Cruzeiro at home on Monday. They need only a draw after a 1-0 first-leg win in Minas Gerais.
Palmeiras were knocked out by Bahia on Friday, and on Saturday Ferroviária fell to Flamengo, who will face São Paulo in the semi-finals.
Only in 2023 and 2024 were the semi-finals contested entirely by São Paulo state clubs. The 2023 quartet were Corinthians, Ferroviária, São Paulo and Santos, while in 2024 it was Corinthians, São Paulo, Palmeiras and Ferroviária.
Paulista sides are also the competition’s most decorated with 12 titles. Corinthians have seven, Ferroviária two, and Rio Preto, Santos and Centro Olímpico one apiece. Only Flamengo, in 2016, interrupted the state’s dominance.
