Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has late this week moved to defend leading members of the attacking ranks at both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The pair in question? Raphinha, and Vinícius Jr.
Wing pair Raphinha and Vinícius both featured from the off for Brazil on Thursday night, in a high-profile friendly meeting with France.
En route to a 2-1 defeat, however, both struggled to make a positive impression. Raphinha was also hooked from proceedings at the interval owing to an injury setback.
Ahead of the fast-approaching World Cup, Brazil’s star attackers have been singled out for frequent criticism on the part of the Seleção faithful of late, urged to step up the level of their performances on the international front.
Speaking to the media post-match on Thursday, Carlo Ancelotti was therefore drawn on the ongoing condemnation of his stars.
And the former Real Madrid boss responded by defending both, assuring:
“For me, nothing is missing. Raphinha had good opportunities. Vini is always dangerous. I didn’t see a difference. A striker will not always score. Both of their jobs were well done.”
