Brazil and France will get the opportunity to flex their World Cup muscles in front of an American audience tonight as the two international heavyweights clash in Massachusetts.

Both nations will head to this summer’s tournament among the favourites to bring home the crown, with record-winners Brazil hoping to lift the fabled trophy for the first time since 2002.

That’s despite the Selecao not enjoyed the most fruitful of qualifying campaign, finishing in an underwhelming fifth place in the Conmebal table - 10 points adrift of leaders and World Cup holders Argentina.

Didier Deschamps will therefore be keen for France to make a statement against Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the friendly, who have come out on the losing side against Brazil in their previous two friendlies in 2013 and 2015.

Team news

We’d expect the French line-up to drop any time from now, so here’s a quick reminder of their early team news...

France have lost their key Arsenal defender in William Saliba due to injury, with Jules Kounde also out with a hamstring strain. Captain Kylian Mbappe looks set to be involved.

Head-to-head

These two sides have faced off 12 times in the past, with France winning five, Brazil winning four and three ending as draws.

The most famous game between the two was of course the 1998 World Cup final, which France won 3-0 in Paris.

Eight years later, Les Blues got one over on Brazil once again, winning the 2006 World Cup quarter-final thanks to a goal from Thierry Henry.
