Several Real Madrid players were left heartbroken as Brazil crashed out of the 2024 Copa America after their loss to Uruguay in the quarter-final stage. The match went to penalties, and Marcelo Bielsa’s side came up as 4-2 winners in the shoot-out.

There were several Real Madrid players involved in this tie, as Federico Valverde donned the Uruguay shirt, while Rodrygo Goes, Eder Militao, and Endrick starred for Brazil. Vinicius Junior was suspended for this match, which led to the opportunity for the Real Madrid-bound Endrick to start such a high-stakes game.

The Selecao had largely been disappointing throughout the competition, and this disappointment culminated in this defeat and elimination. The mood of Brazil fans was down, and it was thus a surprise to see the 17-year-old Endrick face the microphones at the end of the match.

The comments made by the youngster at this moment have been reported by MARCA. He began with the hope that Brazilians would forgive the team for this poor showing and continue to support the team in the future:

“I know it’s hard to accept our country’s elimination in the quarter-finals, but I hope the people will continue to support us in the future.”

Endrick was also asked about his imminent move to Real Madrid, and he confessed that he was already thinking about his new club:

“Yes, I’m already thinking about Madrid. It’s very difficult to talk right now because unfortunately we were eliminated, but now my mind is on Madrid.”

He also praised Valverde, with whom he also had an altercation in the first half of the game, and thanked him for his earlier words for him:

“Valverde is a great player, a phenomenon, a guy who gives everything for the team. I appreciate what he has said about me.”

As Endrick has his mind focused on Real Madrid now, the Merengue fans are also looking forward to see him in their team after already acquiring Kylian Mbappe earlier this summer. Hopefully, he will be able to get significant game time with the first team next season, and continue growing and developing at his new club.
