The arrival of Buonanotte was always a slightly curious one. He struggled for a game for relegated Leicester on loan last season, and was hardly top of our summer agenda.

In the end he played his role – basically a warm body in those positions for early rounds in the EFL and FA Cup. He hasn’t featured in a league game since September. Ironically his best game yet was against Charlton last weekend, where he looked really comfortable and dangerous moving between the lines.

Now he can move on and hopefully play more at Leeds, who were close to signing him in the summer before we “hijacked” that deal, according to Kinsella.

It doesn’t look like we will be signing an attacker to replace him, given there are no soft cup games to hand him left. We should have enough options going forward without him, with Cole Palmer almost fit. Introducing Andrey Santos as a double pivot and pushing Enzo Fernandez into the number ten role also squeezes Buonanotte’s potential for playing even further.

Goodnight, and good luck!
