Clubs in English football's second tier have turned down the opportunity to introduce a form of VAR from next season.

That is according to a report from BBC Sport which states that an offer to introduce Football Video Support was on the table starting in August.

It is a variation of the current system which needs fewer resources and gives coaches two reviews per game.

After the EFL requested feedback from Championship clubs, they strongly rejected the introduction.

The idea is now off the table for the foreseeable future, per the report, with it unlikely to be brought back under discussion next year, although goal-line technology will continue to be used.

VAR is in use in the second divisions of Spain, Italy and Germany.
