D.C. United's off-season rebuild continues ahead of the 2026 MLS season, with the legacy club officially completing a move for Romanian international forward Louis Munteanu.

The capital outfit have shelled out a club record $10 million ($7m + add-ons) to land the 23-year-old CFR Cluj frontman, making the former Fiorentina academy product their third addition this winter.
Munteanu follows in the wake of the earlier $4 million arrival of Tai Baribo, with DCU looking to not only replace the departed Christian Benteke, but also add further firepower to a forward line that also includes João Peglow, Jacob Murrell and Hakim Karamoko.
Though Munteanu could not crack into the senior setup at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, he enjoyed a fruitful loan with Farul Constanța (22 goals in 65 appearances).
He then moved to Cluj and putting in a brilliant 2024/25 campaign to the tune of 25 goals in 42 appearances.
