Article image:Breaking down Gotham FC's May 2026 schedule: NWSL and Champions Cup

NJ/NY Gotham FC is in a much better place after the international break. The ladies started the season 1-2-2, but now have won their last two games. The win against Chicago Stars FC on Wednesday provided the belief that the team can be good this year. Of course, it is still early, and streaks are common. Nevertheless, the players can celebrate the back-to-back wins.

As always, they have to go right back into prepping for the next match. The Bats have a busy May schedule ahead of them that includes games in the NWSL and the CONCACAF W Champions Cup. Moreover, the recent win temporarily put the NJ/NY side into fourth place, for they have played seven games compared to most of the other NWSL sides' five or six.

It is important that Gotham FC continues to win, especially at home. So, let's take a look at a very busy month by looking at the May schedule.

Gotham FC's May 2026 schedule

Sunday, May 3: Gotham FC vs Racing Louisville FC

Last year, Gotham FC failed to beat Racing Louisville FC, with one match ending in a draw and the other a loss. This time, the team will try to earn three points at home and extend their current winning streak to three games. On paper, they should win, especially since Racing has had a difficult start to the season. The team is 1-4-1. It is important not to treat them like a bottom-of-the-table side since Louisville has beaten the Orlando Pride.

Saturday, May 9: Gotham FC vs Boston Legacy FC

The second match of May will be the second meeting with Boston Legacy FC. The NJ/NY side won their first meeting, winning 1-0 in the season opener. Now, they will host the new NWSL side, aiming to get another three points from them. Truthfully, they should beat Boston again, for the team has just one point this season.

Friday, May 15: Gotham FC at Seattle Reign FC

Right now, Gotham and Seattle Reign FC are separated by a point in the NWSL standings. The Reign has a game in hand, among the NWSL teams that the NJ/NY team will face, the Washington side is the closest one to them in the standings. Plus, Seattle is never easy to play on the road, especially with players like Claudia Dickey and Sofia Huerta leading the side. Of the NWSL fixtures, this will be the most challenging one of May.

Wednesday, May 20: Gotham FC at Club América Femenil

Gotham FC will try to win back-to-back CONCACAF W Champions Cup trophies when they play in the semifinals against a strong Club América Femenil. The Liga MX Femenil team recently finished the Clausura in first place and has been very hot as of late. That Bats have already faced the team in the past, beating them in the last semifinals of the Champions Cup. Whether they can do that again will depend on whether the recent performances continue for the NJ/NY side.

Saturday, May 23: Gotham FC vs TBD

It is unknown who Gotham will face next in the Champions Cup, and it will depend on whether they play in the finals or third-place game. They will face either Club de Fútbol Pachuca Femenil or the Washington Spirit.

Sunday, May 31: Gotham FC vs Houston Dash

The final game before the CBA-mandated break, which will also be considered a pause for the group round of the Men's World Cup, will be against the Houston Dash. Gotham FC will want to end the month with a win since there will be no NWSL games from June 1 through June 28. The Bats will play the Challenge Cup on June 26, but it is still important to end this part of the campaign with all three points. After failing to win against the Dash in 2025, Gotham will try to reverse their recent misfortunes against the team.
