Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Liam Delap from Chelsea, with the forward signing a five-year contract at the City Ground.

The 23-year-old spent the 2025/26 season at Chelsea after joining from Ipswich, making 47 appearances in all competitions. He scored his first Champions League goal in a 3-0 victory over Barcelona, with five of his appearances coming in Europe’s premier club competition.

Delap previously enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Ipswich in 2024/25, scoring 12 Premier League goals as the Tractor Boys returned to the top flight. His performances earned him the club's Players’ Player, Young Player and Supporters’ Player of the Season awards.

The striker began his career at Manchester City and made his senior debut at the age of 17 before enjoying loan spells with Stoke City and Hull City. He joined Ipswich permanently in 2024.

Delap, who will wear the No. 19 shirt at Forest, said he was excited to work under the club's manager and believes he can help the team challenge at the top end of the Premier League.

“I really can’t wait to get started, this is a massive club with a big history,” Delap said. “Hopefully I can bring goals here.”

Forest chief football officer George Syrianos described Delap as a “top talent” and said the club had been monitoring him for some time.

The move represents another step in Delap’s development as he looks to establish himself as a leading Premier League striker.
