As far as Champions League fixtures go, it doesn't get much bigger than Real Madrid against Manchester City at the Bernabéu.

Pep Guardiola faces Xabi Alonso, with the latter under serious pressure following his side's recent run of results.

After defeat against Celta Vigo in La Liga over the weekend, widespread reports in Spain this week have claimed Alonso must bank a win in order to keep his place in the Madrid dugout.

City, on the other hand, are hoping to build on a spell of good results in the Premier League following wins over Leeds United, Fulham and Sunderland.

There had been doubts over whether Madrid's talisman Kylian Mbappé would be fit to play, but the 26-year-old was listed in the squad on Wednesday morning and he makes the bench.
