Brest captain Brendan Chardonnet has suffered a muscle tear in training and will miss the start of their Ligue 1 campaign.
The club said in a social media post on Monday that the 31-year-old centre-back cut short Saturday’s session with a calf issue, and tests confirmed the diagnosis.

Brest begin away to Le Mans on Saturday at 20:45.
It is an early blow for the Brittany club before the league has even kicked off.
