Brenden Aaronson has set aside Leeds United's relegation fight to join the United States this week, yet he remains upbeat about the run-in beyond the international break.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the USMNT host Belgium and Portugal in Atlanta in pre-World Cup friendlies as they prepare to stage the tournament this summer, and the Leeds attacker has switched his focus accordingly.

He accepted the club-to-country shift can be tough, and said his approach is to work day by day and concentrate on the national team for now.

When he returns, potentially with his 58th cap, Aaronson believes Leeds can complete the job. Seven games remain, and they sit 15th, four points clear of the drop zone.

He views the run-in as favourable, with many observers calling it statistically easier than those of their rivals.

Leeds face Wolves and Burnley at home, with away trips to Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham among their final outings.

Aaronson said it has been a good season for a team that came up to the Premier League, and he trusts the group to secure the points needed to meet their goal.
