Brennan Johnson (24) is expected to undergo a medical at Crystal Palace within the next 24 hours as he closes in on a £35m move from Tottenham.

Sky Sports News reported on Tuesday that Palace had agreed a fee with Spurs for the 24-year-old winger, and The Telegraph now says the deal is moving quickly. Palace are confident Johnson will complete the transfer in time to be available for Sunday’s Premier League trip to Newcastle United.

Johnson joined Tottenham from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth £47.5m and enjoyed a highly productive spell in north London. He finished last season as Spurs’ top scorer with 18 goals in all competitions and scored the winning goal in the Europa League final against Manchester United, ending the club’s 17-year wait for a major trophy.

The proposed £35m move is understood to represent the outstanding balance Tottenham must pay to Forest under the terms of Johnson’s original transfer.

For Palace, the signing would represent a significant statement of intent as they look to strengthen their attacking options. Johnson’s pace, direct running, and proven goal threat are seen as key attributes that could add a new dimension to their forward line.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are set to part ways with one of their most influential players of recent seasons as they continue to reshape their squad. If completed, Johnson’s arrival would be one of Palace’s most high-profile signings in recent years.
