Vasco have signed Brenner on Fernando Diniz’s recommendation, the striker reunites with his former coach in 2026 after a São Paulo reset and MLS rise.
A Cotia graduate and prolific youth scorer, he stalled and was loaned to Fluminense without establishing himself. Reinstated by Diniz at São Paulo, on the eve of a Corinthians derby he came off the bench to score the winner.
"I asked for him to return and convinced him he needed to face football seriously. I did not teach Brenner to play football, he gives me solutions with the goals he scores," Diniz said, speaking to Bem, Amigos! on sportv in November 2020.
From that point he delivered 22 goals and four assists in 44 games, finishing the season as a starter as São Paulo’s title push faded. Sold to FC Cincinnati before the campaign ended, his final appearance came against Atlético-GO in round 33, the same night Diniz was dismissed.
After adaptation in 2021, he made 24 goal contributions in 31 matches in 2022, linking with Barreal and Acosta before Udinese signed him. He later returned to Cincinnati and in 10 outings scored six with one assist, including a brace against Columbus Crew.
His last appearance was on 23 November, a 4-0 defeat to Inter Miami in the Eastern Conference semi-final. Vasco will pay 5 million euros to Udinese in instalments over about three years, with Diniz seeking a more mobile number nine.
