Rayan, Breno Bidon, Arthur Dias and Jair represent the Brazilian generation that won the 2025 South American U-20 Championship in the Senior National Team. During the FIFA international window, the quartet was called up by Brazil for the friendlies against Australia and India, the team’s first commitments after the 2026 World Cup.

They are together again more than a year and a half after the title in Venezuela. This time, they are part of the squad that began this week a new preparation cycle for the 2028 Copa América and the 2030 World Cup.

Among the four champions, Rayan earned his first opportunity in the team coached by Carlo Ancelotti. In March this year, he was called up for the matches against France and Croatia. He stood out and was one of the 26 selected for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. In total, he has seven appearances and two goals.

The second of those goals came on Friday (25), in the 1-1 draw with Australia, in stoppage time of the second half, in a friendly at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville. Jair, meanwhile, also made his debut for the national team in that match.

For Bidon, Arthur Dias and Jair, this is the trio’s first spell with the Senior National Team.

In the campaign that gave Brazil its 13th title in the competition, Rayan, Breno Bidon, Arthur Dias and Jair played leading roles. Rayan was one of the standouts in attack, Bidon established himself as one of the midfield organizers, while Arthur and Jair showed solidity and quality in defense.

Across the nine matches of the South American Championship, these were the quartet’s numbers:

About the title campaign

Right in the opener, Brazil was beaten 6-0 by Argentina, but showed strength and resilience to overcome the heavy setback and recover in the tournament. After that, it earned wins over Bolivia (2-1) and Ecuador (3-2), securing qualification for the final stage, and then lost 1-0 to Colombia.

Next, three victories secured Brazil’s qualification for the U-20 World Cup: 1-0 over Uruguay and Colombia, and 3-1 over Paraguay. The next opponent was Argentina, which was level on four points with Brazil. The head-to-head result was the first tiebreaker. In other words, the winner of the match would secure the title.

After falling behind, Brazil secured the draw with a goal by Rayan. The result postponed the definition of the champion until the final round, with all matches played on the same day. Against Chile, the Brazilians needed a convincing win to pile the pressure on Argentina, which would take the field already knowing that match’s score.

Brazil saved its goals for the second half, finding the net through Deivid Washington, Pedrinho and Ricardo Mathias and winning 3-0.

If Argentina had beaten Paraguay by four goals, it would have reached the same 13 points as Brazil, matched a goal difference of seven, and taken the trophy on goals scored, a tally it already held over Brazil. However, the Argentines lost 3-2 to Paraguay and finished as runners-up.
