Corinthians won the first leg of the Copa do Brasil semifinal against Cruzeiro at Mineirão. The team, led by Dorival Júnior, showed a different attitude compared to their recent performances in the Brasileirão, something highlighted by Breno Bidon in the mixed zone after the final whistle.

“I believe we entered with a very good attitude, we have been preparing all week for this, the group is very focused on what needs to be done, so I believe we are coming together more and more, and I think this is very important to strengthen us, and I'm sure Sunday will be a great game, so we have to keep our feet on the ground, keep working, because on Sunday we will have a very high-level game ahead,” said the midfielder, who was a starter.

With Garro's injury being recovered in recent weeks, the number 27 was chosen to play further forward, in the Argentine's role. The choice paid off: he passed to Carrillo, who crossed to Yuri Alberto and assisted Memphis Depay in the scored goal.

“It's a slightly different role, but I've done it a lot, even in the youth teams, because in the youth teams we end up playing many positions, and I believe that helped me a lot to get here in the professional team and contribute to the group. I believe I responded very well, but I have to keep working, I have to be good in all positions, because when Dorival needs, we have to be very focused and well prepared for wherever we play,” Bidon explained about the tactical part.

“A soccer player has to know how to play all games, and it's in these games that we have to show, that the great players have to appear, maybe it sounds bad, but that's not what I'm trying to say about myself, but we have to be prepared for all games, so I believe today, not just me, but the whole group, everyone who came in, was very well prepared, very focused on what we had to do here, and thank God we managed to take a good result home,” he added.

In the final stretch of the Brasileirão, Corinthians faced Cruzeiro at Mineirão and suffered a resounding 3-0, alarming the fans with the decisive encounter for the Copa do Brasil. Bidon spoke about the locker room atmosphere and the group's conversations after the defeat and how it served for a change in attitude.

“We know that game was far below what we can produce, as shown today, we know it wasn't a good game, but we corrected all the mistakes, corrected everything that needed to be corrected, so I believe that united us a lot too, that defeat, so I believe that helped us too, after that defeat, we had a conversation among ourselves, and we knew what we had to come and do today, and thank God we managed to come out with a good result,” said the midfielder.

The decisive match that determines the spot in the Copa do Brasil final takes place next Sunday (14), hosted by Corinthians. The ball will roll on the Neo Química Arena field, starting at 6 p.m. (Brasília time). With the victory, a draw guarantees Timão's qualification to the final.
