Brentford have been hit with another major injury blow as forward Kevin Schade is set to undergo surgery after suffering an adductor injury during the warm-up before the Everton game on Saturday.

The 21-year-old is expected to be sidelined for several months, leaving Brentford without one of their promising talents for an extended period.

This unfortunate setback marks the second long-term injury to plague the Bees this season following Rico Henry’s anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in a match against Newcastle United on September 16.

Schade had shown great promise and was in the line-up for the match at the Gtech Community Stadium.

However, he was forced to withdraw from the squad moments before kickoff. Keane Lewis-Potter took his place in the starting XI.

The young German had made an impressive start to the season. Most notably, he scored against Crystal Palace last month.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank expressed his disappointment over Schade’s injury, highlighting the impact he had already made on the team.

Frank said (via Brentford’s official website): “That (Schade injury) is a blow, of course. He is a player that we have big expectations for.

“I think he was starting to show some of his fantastic abilities—the latest with the goal against Crystal Palace. That happens. It’s football. This is life. There will be challenges we need to work our way through.”

In addition to Schade, Brentford confirmed injuries to Ben Mee and Mikkel Damsgaard. Mee will be sidelined for several weeks due to a muscle injury, while Damsgaard is seeking advice from a knee specialist regarding the problem.

Brentford’s immediate focus now shifts to their upcoming League Cup fixture against Arsenal tomorrow.

The Bees will be determined to overcome these setbacks and continue their journey in the competition despite the absence of key players.
