Brentford B confirm permanent signing of Donal O’Connor | OneFootball

Brentford B have signed centre-back Donal O’Connor on a permanent deal from Cork City, subject to international clearance.

O’Connor comes to west London on a three-year deal, which runs until the summer of 2029.

The 18-year-old joins Sam Saunders’ side having featured 10 times across all competitions so far this season for Cork City, who sit 20 points clear at the top of the League of Ireland with 10 games to play.

His first-team debut came in a 1-0 win over Treaty United at the end of May, the defender impressing from then on to earn a move to the Bees.

Head coach Saunders said: “We’re really pleased to get Donal in. He brings that first-team experience to the B-team group.

“He’s powerful, strong and wants to defend the box. He’s got lots of attributes that we feel will help our group and a lot of attributes that we feel we can help develop as well.

“He is another good signing that adds more competition to the backline and more competition to the squad for what’s going to be a very testing season.”
