Brentford booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round with a comfortable 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Keane Lewis-Potter opened the scoring in the 27th minute, tapping in at the back post from Mathias Jensen’s free-kick.
The Bees dominated from the start, hitting the woodwork twice before their opener, with Reiss Nelson and Lewis-Potter both denied by the crossbar. Wednesday, with a young side, battled bravely, and goalkeeper Pierce Charles made several fine saves before leaving injured.
The game was effectively sealed when Romelle Donovan was fouled in the box, allowing Jensen to convert a penalty and make it 2-0. Substitute Logan Stretch was unable to stop the spot-kick.
Even with a rotated squad, Brentford’s quality told, and they now progress to the fourth round while maintaining momentum in the Premier League.
