Brentford captain Nathan Collins has backed a supporter-led push to lift the atmosphere by donating £1,000 to TW8 Casuals. According to Hounslow Herald, the Ireland international made the contribution after the Sunderland game.

TW8 Casuals aim to improve noise home and away through displays, flags, tifos, marches and pre-match meet-ups. After a striking display during the opening-day win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Gtech Community Stadium, they announced extra flags for the North and West Stands before Sunderland.

Fans in red and white took their seats half an hour before kick-off to build a buzz, then watched Brentford draw 1-1 with the Black Cats.

Collins was withdrawn after 17 minutes with a calf strain. Later on Tuesday evening, TW8 Casuals revealed he had donated on behalf of the players after the game. An anonymous £1,165 gift also arrived.

Head coach Keith Andrews described his players feeding off the noise and enjoying a growing connection with supporters this season, and was really looking forward to returning to the Gtech. He felt the Spurs opener crackled from the tunnel and wants that bond to continue.

Donations fund future flags, displays and matchday activities, and the group is preparing a display against Chelsea while seeking volunteers. The Bees are unbeaten with five points from their opening three Premier League games, and travel to Bournemouth on Saturday.
