Head coach Keith Andrews has provided an update on Aaron Hickey and Vitaly Janelt ahead of Brentford’s Premier League game against Everton on Saturday (3pm kick-off GMT).

Hickey (hamstring) and Janelt (metatarsal) have both been unavailable since the Bees' 2-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion on 21 February.

"Aaron is closer than Vitaly, for sure," revealed Andrews.

"Aaron's probably not going to make Saturday, but he's not too far away - he's been training with the group this week.

"Vitaly will probably be a bit further away. It's a different type of injury and a different length. I don't know exactly how many weeks... but it'll be a good few weeks away, I imagine."

On the status of the rest of the squad, the Bees boss continued: "They've all pretty much come back in a good place, on an injury front.

"There's that obvious disappointment for some; the reality is that they all go away and represent their nations, which is a really proud moment, but they come back with contrasting emotions.

"We had some who had the elation of representing their countries for the first time, like Igor Thiago, which we're all very proud about.

"And then some who had the heartbreak of missing out on the World Cup. It's important that we respect that."

Rico Henry remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Josh Dasilva (knee ligament) is also out. Fábio Carvalho and Antoni Milambo will miss the rest of the campaign due to ACL injuries.

Andrews spoke about the importance of this weekend's fixture against Everton. David Moyes' side travel to west London level on points with the Bees, just one place below them on goal difference.

"We've had to wait a while since the last one, which has given us time to look at this game," revealed the Irishman. "But we've also looked at ourselves and where we're at as a team, what we're doing well, and what we can tweak for the remainder of the season.

"We take it game by game, but this is a really big game and a really important game. It's a game where the pressure that is on us, we've put on ourselves, it's not external pressure in any way.

"We've set the bar high this season, and we want to continue to do that. That restarts tomorrow against an Everton team that are playing really well."
