Keith Andrews has confirmed that Rico Henry is facing a prolonged period on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury during Brentford’s 0-0 draw with Bournemouth.

Henry was withdrawn after 21 minutes at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night, having pulled up holding his right thigh. The Jamaica international received treatment on the pitch before being substituted for Kristoffer Ajer.

Henry will now miss Monday’s trip to West Ham in the FA Cup fifth round, with Andrews confirming that he expects the 28-year-old to be out for a “decent period of time”.

"Rico did his hamstring the other night," Andrews revealed on Friday.

"Everyone could see he was in quite a bit of distress with that when he had to come off.

"Rico won't be available [for West Ham], and he'll probably be out for a decent period of time, unfortunately.

"He worked really hard to get back to the point where his performances were at a really high level, so that's really unfortunate with him.

"We will get him back as soon as we can and as soon as it's safe to do so."

Andrews went on to add that Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson could potentially be involved against West Ham, having missed the last two games with a calf injury.

"Reiss will hopefully be involved, but we're not entirely sure yet,” he continued.

Henry’s injury comes shortly after Aaron Hickey, who hopes to make Scotland’s World Cup squad this summer, was ruled out until after the March international break with a hamstring injury.

Henry and Hickey have both struggled with serious injuries over the past three seasons, with neither player starting a single Premier League game last term.

However, after careful management of their minutes, Henry has made 14 starts in the league while Hickey has managed seven.

The pair’s injuries, which look set to keep them out for the majority of the season, come as a major blow for Brentford, who are seventh in the Premier League table.
