According to Foot Mercato, Brentford are set to lodge a bid to sign Olympique de Marseille full-back Renan Lodi (25), who only joined the club from Atletico Madrid in the summer.

Whilst Marseille are hoping to conclude a deal to sign Scottish defender Josh Doig (21) from Serie A side Hellas Verona, he is being brought in to compete with Lodi and provide backup, not to replace him. However, just months after the Brazil international’s arrive at the Vélodrome, Brentford are set to lodge a bid to prise him away, according to Foot Mercato.

The Premier League club are preparing to lodge a loan offer with an obligation to make the deal permanent at the end of the season. However, this offer is highly unlikely to convince OM to part ways with the defender. Brentford’s bid is therefore expected to be unsuccessful.

Lodi has played 23 times for Marseille since his €13m arrival from Atletico Madrid last summer, and despite a mixed start to life in Ligue 1, the former Nottingham Forest loanee is part of OM’s plans for the future.
