Brentford U18s 0 Aston Villa U18s 5: Young Villans too strong at Jersey Road | OneFootball

Brentford Under-18s were defeated 5-0 by Aston Villa Under-18s at Jersey Road on Saturday afternoon.

Gary McDermott's side started promisingly in the U18 Premier League clash, however couldn't match the young Villans as they took home all three points.

Inside two minutes the visitors came close to scoring through Erinoluwa Orebowale. Winning the ball back deep in Brentford’s half he then looked to lob Felix Lyon, but the young Bees goalkeeper immediately jumped high to secure the ball.

Two minutes later Aston Villa broke forward on the counterattack through Joshua Blake, who played the ball through the backline to Olly Lloyd inside the box. He looked to chip Lyon, but the goalkeeper again did well to keep it out.

The Brentford shot-stopper was on fire and again prevented a goal on six minutes. Orebowale looked to shoot across his body from the right side of the box, but Lyon did well to deflect the ball out for a corner.

The Bees continued to defend as one, led by Dylan Danso on 10 minutes. The centre-back tracked Blake as he made his way into the box, making a timely slide tackle to prevent a shot on target.

Two minutes later it was Lyon’s turn again, the goalkeeper saving Orebowale’s shot as he streamed into the box, Nathaniel Ogungbemi clearing the danger off the rebound.

The stranglehold was broken on 19 minutes as Orebowale was played through the line and into the box, the striker finishing well into the bottom right corner to make it 1-0.

McDermott’s side immediately looked to respond through Jovan Kasujja as he broke forward into the left side of the box, but his shot was deflected over the bar for a corner.

The half-hour mark came and went and it was Villa who struck next. A high ball at the edge of Brentford’s box was headed goalward, Blake bringing it down and shooting across his body into the bottom right corner to double the visitors' lead.

Out of the break the Bees started promisingly, Coran Madden hitting the post with a well-struck shot from outside the box.

The visitors returned serve though and found a third goal through Jahmi Kellyman on 49 minutes.

Three minutes later Lyon was called into action as Orebowale looked to score, but the goalkeeper was quick to dive low to his left to make a timely save.

As the hour-mark approached Jai Nwosu broke forward into space in the Villa box, but was interrupted by a timely slide tackle by Curtis Mitchell.

Jai Bansoodeb looked to get the Bees back into the game on 63 minutes as he stepped up for a free-kick from outside the box, but his low strike was well kept out by Theo Houston in goal for the visitors.

With under 20 minutes to play the visitors had their fourth goal. Taking possession on the right side of the box, George Thomas put a low powerful strike into the bottom left corner of the net.

McDermott’s side responded immediately as a trialist put in a dangerous cross from the left side. Nwosu met it and looked to score, but Houston did well to save it diving to his right.

After Madden put a shot over the bar the visitors went close down the other end. After Lyon saved Orebowale’s shot the ball rebounded to Tay’Veon Smithen, but his effort was wide.

The Villans scored a fifth goal in added time to round out a strong performance, Dodzi Sanchez taking possession of a long ball and scoring.
