Thomas Frank returns to his former club as Spurs face the Bees in all-London clash on New Year’s Day

Tottenham travel to meet Brentford in the Premier League tonight in what will be a reunion between Thomas Frank and his old side.

Frank has already come up against Brentford since becoming Tottenham manager, when his side beat the Bees 2-0 at home less than a month ago.

But the pressure on the Dane has only increased since then, as Spurs lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest and then 2-1 to Liverpool.

They did beat Crystal Palace 1-0 in their last outing, albeit not convincingly, but have still only won three times in their last 10 games across all competitions.

After some poor form of their own, Brentford have won their last two games and will come into the match against Tottenham with some confidence.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Brentford vs Tottenham is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off today on Thursday January 1, 2026.

The match will take place at the Gtech Community Stadium in west London.

Brentford vs Tottenham team news

Brentford are without Frank Onyeka and Dango Ouattara, who are both away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Sepp van den Berg will be assessed before the game, as he is carrying a knock. The same is true of Igor Thiago.

Fabio Carvalho and Antoni Milambo are both dealing with ACL injuries while Josh Dasilva also has a knee injury.

For Spurs, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke will all definitely miss the game through injury, though the latter has returned to training.

Xavi Simons is suspended, while Cristian Romero will be available after returning from his own ban. Lucas Bergvall should be available after coming off injured against Crystal Palace, but a late judgement will be made.

Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma are both away at AFCON.

Brentford vs Tottenham prediction

Brentford are at home and will be buoyed by two positive results in their last two games.

They beat Bournemouth 4-1 in their last game and won 2-0 against Wolves the game before.

Igor Thiago has been in excellent form this season and has 11 Premier League goals already. He is, however, a slight doubt for the game.

Frank will be hoping he can do the double over his former side with another win, but Tottenham have a less than ideal squad available for the game.

It also remains to be seen how the Gtech Community Stadium will welcome Frank, and what effect that has.

Draw, 1-1.
