Brest and PSG unite to honour Éric Roy before Ligue 1 clash | OneFootball

In the closing fixture of matchday four, Brest and PSG observed an extensive tribute to Éric Roy, the Brest coach who died from pancreatic cancer on 17 June aged 58. The ceremony took place on Sunday night at Francis-Le Blé.

As reported by L'Équipe, the club set out to stage an homage worthy of the man.

With his wife Loëtitia and daughter Victoria-Rose present, club president Denis Le Saint laid a wreath at the "King" mural outside the ground one hour before kick-off. At the same time, a Paris delegation of Luis Enrique, Luis Campos and captain Marquinhos did likewise by the Brest bench.

Tifos then filled the stands. The PSG section unfurled a banner reading "Repose en paix Éric Roy", while the home end displayed messages of thanks, unity and his "King" moniker.

Footage of Roy played on the big screens before U2’s Magnificent, one of his favourite songs, was heard. Campos then presented his wife and daughter with a blue shirt bearing "King 29", after which Victoria-Rose addressed the crowd to thank Brest supporters for their help during his illness.
