As they’re looking to strengthen their squad following multiple departures and their upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign, Stade Brestois have set their sights on Ludovic Ajorque (30) according to a report by Foot Mercato.
After an outstanding season concluded by an unexpected third place in the standings, Brest will compete in Europe and the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club’s history. However, the start of the summer transfer window has not been convincing as of now, with the lifting of Julien Le Cardinal’s buy option being the only transfer completed by the Brittany side. With Steve Mounié (29), Martin Satriano (23) and Kamory Doumbia (21) having all returned to their respective clubs following the end of their loan, almost the whole of the Ty Zéfs’ offensive unit is to rebuild. Having to deal with a very restricted budget, Brest are desperate to bring back a familiar face to Ligue 1.
Two years after his departure from RC Strasbourg Alsace, Ajorque could return to Ligue 1. Despite coming off a disappointing season with Mainz, in which he logged three goals in 28 games, the French striker is gathering a lot of interest in France. Recently, Foot Mercato revealed that AS Saint-Etienne, Nantes, and Lille had all added Ajorque’s name to their shortlist. However, Brest could beat the competition, as they’re pushing forward to close the deal. In a new report, the French outlet reveals that Ajorque is interested in Brest’s project, with the perspective of competing in the UEFA Champions League being a key factor. Moreover, the 30-year-old centre forward is likely to have a bigger role in Brittany than at Lille. Mainz and Brest are still in talks over a deal that could end up being between €3M-€4M.
