Brest resumed group training on Friday 3 July, remembering former head coach Éric Roy, who died on 17 June from pancreatic cancer.

According to L'Équipe, players and staff gathered before the session by a commemorative plaque outside Stade Francis-Le Blé to honour him.

A club video showed the entire group at the memorial for Roy, nicknamed the King, laying white flowers before applauding.

Roy led Brest into the Champions League after a remarkable 2023-24 season, finishing third. He had been battling the illness for several years.

The tribute came as Brest began preparations for the 2026-27 campaign.
