Brest v Strasbourg: top-half push meets mid-table aims

Article image:Brest v Strasbourg: top-half push meets mid-table aims

Brest host Strasbourg in Ligue 1 at Stade Francis-Le Blé on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, with the visitors eyeing the top half and the hosts seeking to arrest a recent slide.

Brest beat Strasbourg 2-1 in November and return home needing a response after defeats to Paris FC and Paris Saint-Germain, either side of draws with Nantes and Lens. The visitors' top-half bid is in play after a 3-2 win at Lorient and a draw at Angers in their last three league outings.

Brest are without defenders Soumaila Coulibaly and Bradley Locko. Le Racing list Emanuel Emegha, Sebastian Nanasi, Valentín Barco, Joaquín Panichelli and Aaron Anselmino among their absentees.

Le Racing tend to control more of the ball, averaging 54% possession with 88.27% passing accuracy this season, and have scored 51 league goals. Brest operate with 43% possession and 78.47% pass completion, but their wide supply and crossing could suit target man Ludovic Ajorque, who leads the division with nine assists, while Romain Del Castillo carries an eight-goal threat. For the visitors, Martial Godo's eight league goals point to a direct outlet if transitions open up.

Brest sit 12th on 38 points and a win could pull them closer to the top half. Le Racing are 8th on 47 points and victory would strengthen their position and keep them in touch with the European places.
