Brian Brobbey has declined a transfer to Como. The 23-year-old Ajax striker had no interest in a move to the Serie A club, transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Thursday evening.

Brobbey had a difficult season at Ajax, where he scored four goals and registered three assists in 30 Eredivisie matches. The eight-time Oranje international, who has had a difficult time in his personal life, told the Algemeen Dagblad that he is ready for a new environment.

He is, however, very careful about his next possible step, as Como found with this rejected offer, according to the well-informed Di Marzio.

Thanks in part to new owners, the Lombardy team are making serious progress in Italian football. Cesc Fabregas’ team finished 10th during their return to the top flight. Como want to build on that success next season and are therefore looking for reinforcements.

However, Brobbey does not see the ambitious club as an ideal suitor. He still has a contract until the summer of 2027 at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Arena.
