Brian Brobbey has played down fresh links to Chelsea and Bayern Munich, saying he has not heard anything himself about a transfer.

The Sunderland striker has attracted attention after a strong debut Premier League season, with reports suggesting both clubs have monitored his progress. He has made 27 league appearances, scoring six goals.

"It is always nice when such a big club shows interest, but I haven’t heard anything myself. So, I don’t know," he said. He was speaking to ViaPlay.

Asked about a move to Germany, he added: "I don't know. I'm not thinking about that right now."

Since joining from Ajax last summer, Brobbey has impressed under Régis Le Bris, using his physicality and movement to settle quickly into English football.

His form has been recognised by Ronald Koeman, who recalled him to the Netherlands squad, where he won his ninth and 10th caps last month against Norway and Ecuador.

"When I arrived here, everything was new, and I wasn’t fully fit yet. I hadn’t played much at Ajax," he said. "So I had to work on my fitness with substitute appearances and training sessions. I really grew in that area."

Sunderland visit Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday.
