Brian Fariñas has been registered as a Barcelona first-team player, a move that reflects growing trust in his development.
According to SPORT, the paperwork was signed on Monday afternoon to complete the process with La Liga. It marks a sharp shift from the start of the window.
The player had been close to joining Girona, who moved to acquire 50% of his rights for around 1.5 million euros, but Hansi Flick asked for the deal to be paused. He will wear number 4, which was vacant.
Working under Flick, Fariñas impressed in training, convincing the head coach that he could help the first team. The proposed exit was then shelved.
In recent weeks Deco met in Barcelona with Borja García, the player’s agent, to discuss his situation. The sporting director relayed the club’s satisfaction with his progress and Flick’s contentment with his training level.
Staff around the squad have also noted his application and attitude in sessions. Fariñas knows competition is fierce and that minutes will be hard to come by, yet his approach has not changed.
Barcelona’s plan does not end with registration. The next step is a contract renewal, a matter the parties have been working on and which should be settled soon. His internal standing has risen markedly over the summer.
