Charalampos Kostoulas’ stunning 91st-minute bicycle kick rescued a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth and sent the teenager straight to the top of Brighton’s player ratings.

According to WeAreBrighton.com, the £29.8 million signing from Olympiakos chested the ball with his back to goal, then acrobatically found the far corner. Albion had been staring at defeat against an out-of-form, injury-hit Cherries side.

Brighton had looked ponderous before the late rally. Brighton switched to a back three when Olivier Boscagli came on, and his delivery was headed back across goal by Jan Paul van Hecke for Kostoulas to finish.

Fabian Hurzeler has been cautious easing Kostoulas into the Premier League, some would say too cautious. After this, that will surely have to change.

Kostoulas led the fan-sourced ratings with 8.31. Van Hecke was the only starter above six at 7.46, with Carlos Baleba on 7.08 hinting his AFCON stint with Cameroon might have helped.

Yankubu Minteh scored 7.31 off the bench after forcing Djordje Petrovic into a flying save. Bart Verbruggen’s 6.31 came amid a contentious penalty episode that left VAR and Paul Tierney in focus. Georginio Rutter, recovering from illness, managed 5.85.
