Brighton Agree £29.78m Deal for Olympiakos Talent Kostoulas

Kostoulas set to join Brighton after record agreement

Brighton have reached a £29.78 million agreement with Olympiakos for highly rated forward Charalampos Kostoulas. The deal, which is expected to be finalised pending a medical, marks a landmark transfer for Greek football.

The 18-year-old underwent his medical on Thursday, with a five-year contract set to begin on 1 July.

This is a historic moment for Olympiakos, who are set to receive the highest fee ever paid to a Greek club. The previous record was held by Wolves’ £16.6 million acquisition of Daniel Podence from the same side in 2020.

Performance-based clauses could set further record

The agreed fee includes potential add-ons worth £1.7 million, which if triggered, would make Kostoulas the most expensive Greek player of all time. That record is currently held by Kostas Manolas, whose 2019 transfer from Roma to Napoli was worth £30.63 million.

Rapid rise through Olympiakos ranks

Kostoulas is a product of Olympiakos’ academy and made his senior debut in 2024. A Greece Under-21 international, he was a standout figure in Olympiakos’ UEFA Youth League triumph, where they overcame Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and AC Milan.

He scored seven goals in 22 league appearances last season, underlining his growing reputation as one of Europe’s brightest teenage forwards.
