Brighton captain Lewis Dunk says Albion’s players have covered match tickets and laid on scarves and T-shirts for travelling fans in Tromso as a start-of-season gesture.

According to TheArgus.co.uk, 407 supporters will back the Seagulls in their first competitive fixture of the campaign.

The Conference League play-off sent fans to northern Norway, an intriguing but arduous and costly trip. There are usually no direct summer flights to Tromso, although EasyJet added one after the tie was confirmed, and prices for food and drink are high compared with England.

Fans will have their ticket cost repaid and find a scarf and T-shirt left on their seat by the players. Dunk, speaking at the eve-of-match press conference in Tromso, is among the few remaining from Brighton’s European run three seasons ago.

He said the journey was long and organised late, and that the squad wanted to start the season well for supporters by refunding tickets collectively. He added that they hoped the gift would be appreciated and that it could help set up a good season with the fans.
