Evan Ferguson’s future at Roma remains uncertain, and Brighton coach Fabian Hurzeler has refused to rule out the striker’s return next month: ‘Let’s see when January comes.’
Ferguson has been failing to impress during his loan spell at Roma, scoring just one goal in 13 appearances for the Giallorossi.
La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested earlier this week that Roma might be considering sending the Republic of Ireland international back to Brighton to sign a new centre-forward.
Ferguson joined Roma on loan with an option to buy last summer. Technically, the Giallorossi still have an option to make his move permanent for €35m at the end of the season.
During a press conference on Friday, Brighton coach Hurzeler said Stefanos Tzimas, scorer of three goals in 13 appearances this season, had suffered a long-term knee injury, so a reporter asked whether the club would be considering bringing back strikers like Evan Ferguson or Facundo Buonanotte in the winter transfer window.

“Let’s see when January comes, how we try to make the team better and what changes we want to make,” the Brighton coach replied.
“At the moment, we still have two weeks to go; we have to focus on the present. You can’t change anything, and we have to find solutions with this squad with the players we have. The squad is definitely good enough to find good solutions.”
Roma will play their next Serie A match away at Cagliari tomorrow, Sunday, December 7.
