Brighton complete signing of Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham | OneFootball

Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Croatia international Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur for a club-record £46 million. The 19-year-old centre-back has agreed a five-year contract with an option for a further year.

Add-ons could take the fee to £50 million, while Tottenham retain a 20 per cent sell-on clause and matching rights on any future sale. An initial £30 million offer was followed by a higher bid that was rejected, with agreement reached after Brighton sold Jan Paul van Hecke to Tottenham for £52 million.

Vuskovic came through at Hajduk Split and made his league debut two days after his 16th birthday in February 2023. He spent the second half of 2023-24 with Radomiak Radom, then impressed on loan at Westerlo in 2024-25, form that led to his move to Tottenham in February 2025.

He did not make a competitive appearance for Tottenham and shone on loan at Hamburg last season, scoring six goals in 28 Bundesliga matches. He won his sixth Croatia cap at the World Cup in June in a 4-2 defeat by England in the opening group game.

Brighton have rarely spent as heavily on a young player but view Vuskovic as an outstanding prospect who is seven years younger than Van Hecke. He will compete for minutes alongside fellow summer arrivals Pascal Struijk, signed from Leeds United for around £18 million, and Michael Svoboda from Venezia for £4.3 million, after Adam Webster’s release.
