Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Dario Vidošić was impressed by his side’s attitude and fight as The Seagulls battled out a goalless draw with Liverpool at Broadfield Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides had chances to win the game, but were left frustrated as the spoils were shared in Sussex.

Despite the stalemate, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Vidošić saw positives in his side’s performance.

“I think, again, really good, it’s a positive point,” Vidošić said when speaking to the media after the match. “One that we’ll probably feel a little bit frustrated with. We had enough sort of good chances [that] didn’t result in a shot.

“Without really having the last shot on goal, we were in some really good positions. It felt like that last pass was just letting us down.”

Commenting on the positives, Vidošić hailed his side’s attitude and fight to keep chipping away.

He said “We defended well. Also, just the attitude and the fight right until the end. It’s never easy when you play Chelsea and we had to play them on our midweek, away from home. We had one session to prepare for Liverpool, who are in good momentum. They strengthened very well in January.

“We knew what was at stake. We knew how they would press us; that we’d have to move as well, equally as quickly to get away from that pressure to be able to play.

“I felt like we were probably the better team for today, although it was quite close. There were moments when they had control of the game, then we would get control of the game and it felt like it ebbed and flowed.

“I think over the course of the 90, we probably felt like if there was a winner, maybe we should have been that winner. In terms of that one day’s preparation to play a team that’s in form, that’s playing some good football, I think there’s a lot there to be proud of.”

French defender Maelys Mpomé came off the bench in the second half for The Seagulls and Vidošić praised the player for her hard work despite a tough start to her Brighton & Hove Albion career.

He said “It’s probably one where she’ll be frustrated with the injuries and then she had a bit of a relapse in her comeback, so that just set her back a little bit as well, but she’s done everything that’s been asked of her.

“She’s working really hard, she’s one for our fans, they should get really excited about her. She’s still young, so this would have been a good season for her to learn, to experience things, to take on new knowledge of different roles.

“She’s back now. Hopefully, she’ll stay back as well, but especially for this week with the two very quick games, she’s one that was on minutes restrictions because of how much she’s missed.”

Brighton & Hove Albion are back in Barclays Women’s Super League action this weekend when they travel to Leicester City.
