Brighton & Hove Albion have rejected an opening Liverpool bid of £50m for Yankuba Minteh.
The Athletic reports that the Seagulls star is one of several options the Reds are looking at in the current window following Mo Salah’s exit.
PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye is also understood to be of interest; however, sources close to the club indicate that the Parisians’ asking price is problematic.
In one of the crazier stories of the window, Brighton have turned down a strong Liverpool bid for their injured right winger.
The same injured right winger who will be unavailable for the next eight weeks. Go figure.

If you’re still looking for a sign that everyone has absolutely lost their minds in the current market – look no further.
However, prior reporting indicates that the south coast-based side is looking for a fee closer to £70m, which still feels a bit mad for, might we remind you, an injured footballer.
Either way, it’s reassuring to see that Liverpool do intend to test the market to try and tick off a right winger signing who will presumably compete with Rio Ngumoha.
Given Andoni Iraola’s track record of developing talents, we can see why this is one deal that would appeal to both recruitment and management at Anfield.
However, if we’re prepared to go closer to Brighton’s valuation of the 22-year-old Gambian, we don’t see why Ibrahim Mbaye can’t also be appealing closer to the £50m mark.
By all means, test the market, Liverpool. But we do need to see some progress – and fast.
