Leeds United were left frustrated after Brighton came from behind to snatch a 1-1 draw at the Amex, with the visitors paying the price for a string of missed chances.

Daniel Farke’s side made the brighter start and took the lead after 15 minutes. Bart Verbruggen could only parry Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s header, allowing Ao Tanaka to square the loose ball for Jayden Bogle to finish into an empty net.

Leeds had several opportunities to extend their advantage. Calvert-Lewin saw one effort cleared off the line by Lewis Dunk, while Tanaka struck the crossbar as Brighton struggled to cope.

The visitors continued to threaten after the interval, with Anton Stach denied by Verbruggen before Tanaka thought he had doubled Leeds’ lead. His finish was ruled out for offside.

Brighton finally found their rhythm during the closing stages and were rewarded with 19 minutes remaining. Maxim De Cuyper’s corner picked out Luka Vuskovic, who rose at the back post to head home his first goal for the Seagulls.

Pascal Gross then missed a late chance to win it for Brighton, firing over from close range.

Leeds remain unbeaten after three games but will feel this was two points dropped. Brighton are also still searching for their first home league win.
