The Reds have seen a first bid for the winger rejected
Brighton manager Fabien Hurzeler says Liverpool’s interest in Yankuba Minteh is of no surprise, and expects interest in his players to “evolve” before the transfer window closes.
The Reds have seen a bid worth £50million rejected for the winger, who remains sidelined with an injury for a number of weeks.
Liverpool’s interest comes amid their search for a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Bradley Barcola remains their top transfer target, but talks with Paris Saint-Germain continue to rumble on over a deal worth a potential £130million.
It remains to be seen if Liverpool will test Brighton’s resolve with a second bid, but Hurzeler expects further development before the window shuts on September 1.
"They're important players for us, because they were a big part of our journey over the last two years,” Hurzeler said of Minteh and Carlos Baleba, who is in talks to join Manchester United.
"But, in football, we all have to understand that it's normal if you're successful as a team, if the team is doing well, then the individual can shine, and then there will be a big ask for our players.
"That's part of our identity. That's part of my job here. And that was clear for everyone that this this might happen during a busy transfer window.
"We all know how important these kind of players are for me, but good achievements create offers and a lot of attention, and so therefore we have to wait now. The situation will evolve.
