Brighton sign highly-rated Colombian teenager Matias Orozco | OneFootball

Brighton have completed the signing of highly-rated Colombian midfielder Matias Orozco from Deportivo Cali for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £3.5m.

The 18-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Seagulls and is regarded as one of Colombia’s brightest young talents.

Orozco broke into Deportivo Cali’s senior team last season after progressing through the club’s academy and making his first-team debut at just 16 years old. He went on to make 24 appearances in the Colombian top flight during the campaign.

The midfielder has also represented Colombia at youth level and currently captains the country’s Under-20 side, further highlighting his potential.

Brighton are understood to view Orozco as a long-term investment and are expected to send him out on loan to a European club.

The teenager becomes another addition to Brighton’s growing collection of promising young players, with the club continuing to focus on identifying and developing talent from around the world.

Orozco will now look to make the next step in his career after completing his move to the Premier League side.
