Brighton have secured a new contract for 18-year-old Harry Howell and arranged a season-long loan to Leicester City. The club said they were very excited by the midfielder or winger’s potential.
Howell joins the Foxes as Russell Martin takes charge, with Leicester aiming to bounce straight back after relegation to League One. They have already brought in Albion team-mate Tommy Watson on loan for the season.
He featured in Albion’s friendly win over Strasbourg but was a notable absentee against Roma at the Amex.
Howell played in the Carabao Cup early last season, though senior minutes were limited. Developed as a winger in the academy, he has more recently operated as a No 10 for Shannon Ruth’s under-21s. Albion are keen to see how he fares across a full League One campaign.
Expectation is likely to be high at Leicester, who were quoted as short as 9/4 to win the division. Their campaign begins at Notts County on Saturday.
