Brighton welcome Aston Villa to the Amex Stadium on Wednesday, looking to extend their impressive home form.
The Seagulls are unbeaten in their last 10 Premier League matches on home soil. Moreover, they have won their last three home games in a row. Fabian Hürzeler’s side will be confident after a comfortable 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest.
However, they face a bogey team in Aston Villa. Brighton have won just one of their last nine Premier League meetings against the Villans. Therefore, a disciplined performance will be required to overturn that poor historical record.
Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler is expected to rotate his squad to keep legs fresh following the weekend victory. This could lead to a significant change in attack, with young forward Stefanos Tzimas in contention to lead the line. He would replace veteran Danny Welbeck, who is likely to be rested despite his impressive recent scoring streak on home soil. On the flank, however, Yankuba Minteh is expected to retain his place as he looks to add to his assist tally.
In midfield, the energetic pairing of Carlos Baleba and Yasin Ayari is set to anchor the side. Hürzeler is still carefully managing the fitness of key winger Kaoru Mitoma and the experienced James Milner; while both may make the squad, they are unlikely to be risked from the start.
Brighton predicted XI: Verbruggen; Kadioglu, Van Hecke, Dunk, De Cuyper; Baleba, Ayari; Minteh, Hinshelwood, Gomez; Tzimas
