Brighton & Hove Albion welcome Brentford to the Amex Stadium on Saturday, looking to extend a formidable unbeaten home record.
Fabian Hürzeler’s side have turned their ground into a fortress. In fact, they are unbeaten in their last nine top-flight matches on home soil.
However, they face a Brentford side sitting just one place below them in the table. The Bees also arrive fresh from a morale-boosting victory over Newcastle United.
Fabian Hürzeler faces a late decision on star winger Kaoru Mitoma. The Japanese international is “getting close” to a return from an ankle injury but remains a major doubt. Furthermore, the Seagulls are without long-term absentees Solly March and Adam Webster. James Milner is also sidelined. On a positive note, Ferdi Kadıoğlu is expected to continue at left-back after a string of impressive performances.
The Bees have suffered a massive blow. Creative midfielder Fabio Carvalho is ruled out due to an ACL injury. Unfortunately, he joins Antoni Milambo and Josh Dasilva on the long-term casualty list. Additionally, defender Kristoffer Ajer is a doubt with a back issue. If he misses out, Mads Roerslev could deputise. Up front, top scorer Igor Thiago will lead the line.
Brighton have been a different beast at home this season. Indeed, they have lost just three of their last 24 league games at the Amex. Their recent defensive form has also been excellent, as they kept back-to-back clean sheets. However, they have struggled recently against Brentford. In fact, they have won just one of the last six meetings between the sides.
After a difficult start, Brentford have found their groove. They have won three of their last four games. Most notably, they secured a 3-1 comeback win over Newcastle in their last outing. Despite this, their away form is a major concern. The Bees have lost four of their five away Premier League matches this season.
Brighton predicted XI: Verbruggen; Wieffer, Dunk, Van Hecke, Kadioglu; Baleba, Ayari; Minteh, Rutter, Gomez; Welbeck
Brentford predicted XI: Kelleher; Kayode, Collins, Van den Berg, Ajer; Henderson, Yarmoliuk; Schade, Damsgaard, Ouattara; Thiago
This match will not air live in the UK due to the 3:00 pm GMT Saturday blackout.
